Medication
Parents need to inform Front Office staff and teachers of the medication their child is taking. Duffy Primary strongly discourages students keeping medications in the classroom or in their school bags. Medication needs to be clearly labelled (name, dose, times for administering). Written authority is required from parent/carer for the First Aid Officers to administer medications and a written statement from the student's doctor is also required for prescription medications. All medications are stored securely by the Front Office staff. Responsibility for collecting medications rests with the parent. For further information go to the Directorate policy on Administering Medication at Education and Training Directorate website.Messages During the Day
Parents bringing messages, lunches or materials, to school during the day should leave them with the Front Office staff who will ensure that they get to the appropriate child.
Mobile Phones
Mobile Phones: A new ACT Public Schools policy came into effect in 2024. Our practice regarding phones already aligns with this policy. All students who bring a phone to school need to hand it in to the front office. Phones are collected from the same spot at the end of each day. This routine has worked well for our students and phones are stored securely during the day. Please ask that any student who wears a smart watch that these are set to ‘school mode/ school time’ during the day.
Money Collection
All money sent to school should be handed to the classroom teacher in an envelope with your child's name, activity details and amount clearly marked on the front. Receipts are issued for amounts over $10.00. Payment can also be made by Direct Deposit, Quickweb or EFTPOS at the school.
