Preschool Pathways Program

Preschool Pathways Program

As part of Set up for Success: An Early Childhood Strategy for the ACT, the ACT Education Directorate developed the Preschool Pathways program.  Preschool Pathways is designed to assist ECECs, schools and families to support children in their transition to four-year-old preschool.

The program acknowledges parents and carers as their child’s first teacher and recognises that a successful transition will look different for every child.

When parents and carers, schools, early childhood education and care settings and the broader community work together to support children through transitions, we help them to feel secure, confident and connected as they take the next step on their learning journey.

A set of resources are available on the Directorate website for ECECs to distribute to families with a child transitioning to preschool in 2024.

Resources available for families include:

What’s new in 2025?

New resources are also available to support ECECs to deliver transitions workshops to families and to reflect on and enhance their transition approach.

ECECs are encouraged to consider how the modules could be delivered in their setting to support transition approaches.
